Privacy policy
Last updated October 16, 2026.
The short version
Kestrel collects nothing about you. The app runs on your own computer, and your search, your resume and everything you save stay there. There is no account and no Kestrel server.
The Kestrel app
- Your profile, resumes, saved openings and notes are stored only on your computer.
- Kestrel does not send usage data, crash reports or analytics anywhere.
- To find openings, Kestrel reads public job boards and company career pages. Those sites see an ordinary request from your computer, as they would from a web browser.
- If you choose to use an online AI model, Kestrel tells you what it sends and waits for your OK. What you approve goes to the provider you picked, such as OpenRouter, Anthropic or OpenAI, under that provider's own privacy policy. Kestrel never sends anything to an online model on its own.
- Kestrel never applies, emails or messages anyone on your behalf.
- If you delete Kestrel's data folder, everything Kestrel stored is gone. There is no copy anywhere else.
This website
- kestrelapp.co uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It sets no cookies, does not build a profile of you, and does not follow you to other sites. It records basic details such as the page you viewed, the site that sent you, your browser and device type, and your country.
- The site uses no advertising, no other analytics and no social media trackers.
- It remembers your light or dark choice in your own browser. That setting never leaves your device.
- The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which handles basic request information such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site.
- The Ko-fi link takes you to Ko-fi, whose own privacy policy applies there.
